Fat-removal by suction (the English term is liposuction) is a wonderful method of shaping the body. It is not suitable when it comes to losing weight, even though it may prompt weight-loss. Just about every region of the human body can be shaped by applying fat-removal by suction; the face, the neck, upper arms, back, breast and tummy, and, of course, the legs and behind.
Whatever part of the body we’re talking about here, the contours will immediately become visibly slimmer and more harmonious. The classical example is so-called “riding breeches adiposity” We are dealing here with isolated pads of fat located on the outside of the thigh, in particular in the case of women. Neither physical exercise nor diet will provide the remedy here. The only successful form of therapy is fat-removal by suction. Afterwards, the legs look slim, and you are in a position once again to wear clothing which will emphasise these parts of the body as opposed to hide them.
As far as the face is concerned, cheeks and a double chin can be removed, thus giving the face a more striking overall appearance. Fat-removal by suction is also highly suitable when it comes to reducing the size of and shaping the stomach and likewise the hips, behind, breast, arms and back
First, the area treated is marked. By injecting a special fluid, fat cells are prepared for liposuction. Then a thin and long canula is inserted through a small incision in the skin. The canula is connected to a suction device. By regular movements in a certain pattern, the plastic surgeon is able to suck out the excess of fat. After the procedure, a special compression garment has to be worn for 6 weeks. That garment is part of the procedure, it helps the skin to shrink and to maintain the shape of the new contour.
Liposuction is the most frequent performed procedure in aesthetic plastic surgery. It allows to take out fat tissue from the body without creating big scars. More sophisticated equipment and bigger experience of plastic surgeons allow not only a pure resection of big volumes of fat, but also a more delicate reshaping of contours for example in the face and neck. The tummy, the outer and inner thighs, hips, legs, buttocks, arms and the face and neck are the areas of the body, where liposuction is performed most.
